On a scorching day at Ellerslie on Boxing Day, Viva Fashions in the Field entrants took to a glass catwalk in a Fashion Village, held for the first time trackside by the horses. The Fashion Village, in a security cordoned-off area trackside on the Newmarket Lawn, just in front of the Ellerslie Stand, was a welcome change from being further back at the entrance, as you felt more integrated with the "mane" event.
The popular Fashions in the Field event takes place annually on Boxing Day at The New Zealand Herald Christmas Carnival which also includes New Years Day racing.
